Acceptance of Terms and Conditions
GrantMe connects students with scholarship opportunities as well as services that aim to make scholarship and admissions opportunities more accessible to students (the “Services”).
All information, data, text, software, music, sound, photographs, graphics, video, messages or other materials, whether publicly posted or privately transmitted to the Website by viewers or users whether in forums or otherwise (“User Content”), is the sole responsibility of such viewers or users. This means that the viewer or user, and not GrantMe, are entirely responsible for all such material uploaded, posted, emailed, transmitted or otherwise made available by using the Website and/or the Service. GrantMe does not control or actively monitor User Content and, as such, does not guarantee the accuracy, integrity or quality of such content. Users acknowledge that by using the Service, they may be exposed to materials that are offensive, indecent or objectionable. Under no circumstances will GrantMe be liable in any way for any materials, including, but not limited to, for any errors or omissions in any materials or any defects or errors in any printing or manufacturing, or for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the viewing or use of any materials posted, emailed, transmitted or otherwise made available via the Service.
Restrictions on User Content and Use of the Services
GrantMe reserves the right at all times (but will have no obligation) to remove or refuse to distribute any User Content and to terminate users or reclaim usernames. We also reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any information as we reasonably believe is necessary to (i) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, (ii) enforce this Agreement, including investigation of potential violations hereof, (iii) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, (iv) respond to user support requests, or (v) protect the rights, property or safety of our users and the public.
In using the Website and/or Service, you will not:
- copy any content (including scholarship content) unless expressly permitted to do so herein;
- upload, post, email, transmit or otherwise make available any material that:
i. is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortuous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, libelous, invasive of another's privacy, hateful, or racially or ethnically objectionable, encourages criminal behavior, gives rise to civil liability, violates any law, or is otherwise objectionable;
ii. You do not have a right to make available under any law or under a contractual relationship;
iii. infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright or other proprietary rights of any party (including privacy rights);
iv. is or contains unsolicited or unauthorized advertising, solicitations for business, promotional materials, "junk mail," "spam," "chain letters," "pyramid schemes," or any other form of solicitation;
v. contains software viruses or any other computer code, files or programs designed to interrupt, destroy or limit the functionality of any computer software or hardware or telecommunications equipment or data or the Website or that of any users or viewers of the Website or that compromises a user’s privacy; or
vi. contains any falsehoods or misrepresentations or create an impression that You know is incorrect, misleading, or deceptive, or any material that could damage or harm minors in any way,
- impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent their affiliation with a person or entity;
- intentionally or unintentionally violate any applicable local, state, national or international law or regulation;
- record, collect, mine and/or store data about other users or viewers of the Website and Services;
You also agree not to access the Website in a manner that utilizes the resources of the Website more heavily than would be the case for an individual person using a conventional web browser. Notwithstanding the foregoing, operators of public search engines may use spiders or other bots for the purpose of creating publicly available searchable indices of the materials on this Website.
License of Content
By submitting, posting or displaying Registration Data and/or User Content (collectively “Data”) on or through the Service, you grant us (and our agents) a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide, unlimited license (with the right to sublicense): to (i) use, copy, modify, transmit, display, distribute publish and otherwise commercially exploit such Data in any manner and on any medium; and (ii) use Data to create Pattern Data. GrantMe will not be responsible or liable for any use of Data in accordance with these Terms. You represent and warrant that you have all the rights, power and authority necessary to grant the rights granted herein to any Data that you submit. As used herein “Pattern Data” means non-personally identifiable information, data and reports derived from or compiled through the Service and through use of the Service, including but not limited to demographics data, location data and trend data such as aggregated data and statistics indicating frequency of use and popularity of the Service and of specific scholarships and funds. For greater certainty, Pattern Data is data that does not identify a specific individual. Pattern Data and all materials and content created by GrantMe that is otherwise derived from Data is owned exclusively by GrantMe. You agree to waive all rights of paternity, integrity, attribution and withdrawal and any other rights known as, or substantially similar to, “moral rights” that you may have in the foregoing.
End User License
Except for User Content, this Website, and the information and materials that it contains, are the property of GrantMe and its licensors, and are protected from unauthorized copying and dissemination. Subject to the terms of this Agreement, GrantMe grants you a non-transferable, non-exclusive, license to use the Website for your personal, non-commercial use (the “License”). Nothing in the Terms gives you a right to use the GrantMe names, trademarks, logos, domain names, and other distinctive brand features without our prior written consent. You shall not attempt to override or circumvent any of the usage rules or restrictions on the Website. Any future release, update, or other addition to functionality of the Website shall be subject to this Agreement. You agree that you will not do any of the following:
a, Hacking, accessing, tampering with, or using non-public areas of the Services, our computer systems, or the technical delivery systems of our providers and partners;
b. Probing, scanning, or testing the vulnerability of any system or network or breaching or circumventing any security or authentication measures;
c. forge headers or otherwise manipulate identifiers in order to disguise the origin of any material transmitted to or through the Website or impersonate another person or organization;
- interfere with or disrupt the Website or servers or networks connected to the Website, or disobey any requirements, procedures, policies or regulations of networks connected to the Website or probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any system or network or breach or circumvent any security or authentication measures;
e. Interfering with, or disrupting, (or attempting to interfere or disrupt), the access of any user, host or network, including, without limitation, sending a virus, overloading, flooding, spamming, mail-bombing the Services, or by scripting the creation of User Content in such a manner as to interfere with or create an undue burden on the Services.
d. Removing or modifying any copyright, trade mark or other proprietary notice on the Website.
e. Use any methods including automated devices (such as robots and spiders) to scrape or index the Website or its Content or to scrape, copy or reproduce any scholarship data;
f. license, sell, rent, lease, transfer, assign, distribute, host, or otherwise commercially exploit the Website or Service;
g. modify, translate, make derivative works of, disassemble, decompile, reverse compile or reverse engineer any software provided as part of the Website, except to the extent the foregoing restrictions are expressly prohibited by applicable law; or
h. register for the Service on behalf of a group or corporate entity.
You agree to indemnify us for any and all claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) relating to any acts by you, including but not limited to any Content submitted by you, in connection with using the Service, resulting in claims against us by other users or third parties.
If you provide GrantMe with any suggestions, comments or other feedback relating to any aspect of the Website and/or Service ("Feedback"), GrantMe may use such Feedback in the Website or in any other GrantMe products or services. Accordingly, You agree that: (a) GrantMe is not subject to any confidentiality obligations in respect to the Feedback, (b) the Feedback is not confidential or proprietary information of you or any third party and you have all of the necessary rights to disclose the Feedback to GrantMe, (c) GrantMe (including all of its successors and assigns and any successors and assigns of any of the GrantMe Offerings) may freely use, reproduce, publicize, license, distribute, and otherwise commercialize Feedback in any GrantMe Offerings, and (d) you are not entitled to receive any compensation or re-imbursement of any kind from GrantMe or anyone else.
You acknowledge and agree that the Website may contain advertisements. If you elect to have any dealings with anyone whose products or services may be advertised on the Website, you acknowledge and agree that such dealings are solely between you and such advertiser and you further acknowledge and agree that GrantMe shall not have any responsibility or liability for any losses or damages that you may incur as a result of any such dealings.
The Website (including User Content) may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided solely as a convenience to you and not as an endorsement by GrantMe of the contents of such third-party websites. GrantMe is not responsible for the content of any third-party web site, nor does it make any representation or warranty of any kind regarding any third-party web site including, without limitation (i) any representation or warranty regarding the legality, accuracy, reliability, completeness, timeliness, suitability of any content on any third-party web site; (ii) any representation or warranty regarding the merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose of any material, content, software, goods or services located at or made available through such third-party web sites; or (iii) any representation or warranty that the operation of the third-party web sites will be uninterrupted or error free, that defects or errors in such third-party websites will be corrected or that such third-party websites will be free from viruses or other harmful components.
While GrantMe encourages links to the Website, it does not wish to be linked to or from any third-party web site which contains any content prohibited by this Agreement. GrantMe reserves the right to prohibit or refuse to accept any link to the Website, including, without limitation. You agree to remove any link you may have to the Website upon the request of GrantMe.
The information contained on the Website is for informational purposes only. It is not intended to provide legal, accounting, tax, investment, financial, scholarship selection, medical or other advice to you, and you should not rely upon the information to provide any such advice. The views and opinions of the authors of content published on our Website do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of GrantMe.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The website, service and all materials provided therein are provided "as is." GrantMe specifically disclaims all representations, warranties and conditions, either express, implied, statutory, by usage of trade, course of dealing or otherwise including but not limited to any implied warranties of merchantability, non-infringement, title, satisfactory quality or fitness for a particular purpose. any information or material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the use of the service is at your own discretion and risk and you will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer system, loss of data, or any other loss that results from downloading or using any such material. GrantMe does not warrant, endorse, guarantee, provide any conditions or representations, or assume any responsibility for any product or service advertised or offered by any third party through the website or in respect to any website that can be reached from a link on the website or featured in any banner or other advertising on the website, and GrantMe shall not be a party to any transaction that you may enter into with any such third party. GrantMe will not be liable for any type of content exchanged by means of the service.
Limitation of Liability
Under no circumstances shall GrantMe be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or other damages whatsoever, including, without limitation, any damages that result from (i) your use of or your inability to use this website or the service, (ii) the cost of procurement of substitute goods, data, information or services, (iii) errors, mistakes, or inaccuracies in the materials on the website, (iv) personal injury or property damage of any kind whatsoever arising from or relating to your use of the service, any bugs, viruses, trojan horses, or any other files or data that may be harmful to computer or communication equipment or data that may have been transmitted to or through the website, or (v) any errors or omissions in any material on the website or any other loss or damage of any kind arising from or relating to your use of the website. These limitations shall apply even if GrantMe has been advised of the possibility of such damages. The foregoing limitations shall apply to the fullest extension permitted by law in the applicable jurisdiction.
You shall indemnify and hold GrantMe and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, agents, and employees, harmless from all claims, actions, proceedings, demands, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees), incurred in connection with any materials submitted, posted, transmitted or made available by you through the service and/or any violation by you of this agreement.
GrantMe may, at any time, without notice, in its sole discretion and without cause, terminate your right to access or use the Website and/or the Service, (or any portion thereof). GrantMe may also terminate your right to access and use the Website and/or the Service, or any part thereof, if you breach any term or condition of this Agreement. You may terminate this Agreement at any time by providing us with notice. You acknowledge and agree that all terminations may be made by GrantMe are in its sole discretion and that GrantMe shall not be liable to you or any third-party for any termination of your access to this Website and/or the Service or for the removal of any of the materials uploaded by you to the Website. Any termination by GrantMe shall be in addition to any and all other rights and remedies that GrantMe may have.
Please note that information sent or received over the Internet is generally unsecure and GrantMe cannot and does not make any representation or give any warranty or condition concerning security of any communication to or from the Website or regarding the interception by third parties of personal or other information.
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and account, and are responsible for all activities that occur under your password or account. You agree to notify GrantMe immediately of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security, and to ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session. GrantMe cannot and will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your password or account information.
Notice and Procedure for Making Claims of Copyright Infringement
It is the policy of GrantMe to respond to claims of intellectual property infringement. GrantMe will promptly process and investigate notices of alleged infringement and will take any actions, in its sole discretion, it deems appropriate. Notifications of claimed copyright infringement should be sent to email@example.com.
To be effective, the notification of infringement must be a written communication that includes the following:
- A physical or electronic signature of a person authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed;
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed, or, if multiple copyrighted works at a single online site are covered by a single notification, a representative list of such works at that site;
- Identification of the material that is claimed to be infringing or to be the subject of infringing activity and that is to be removed or access to which is to be disabled, and information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to locate the material;
- Information reasonably sufficient to permit the service provider to contact the complaining party, such as an address, telephone number and, if available, an electronic mail address at which the complaining party may be contacted;
- A statement that the complaining party has a good-faith belief that use of the material in the manner complained of is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law and;
- A statement that the information in the notification is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that the complaining party is authorized to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.
This Agreement shall be governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the laws of Canada, without regard to the conflict of laws principles thereof. You agree and hereby submit to the jurisdiction of the Federal Court of Canada and/or the courts of the Province of Ontario with respect to such matters. You agree that the provisions of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods shall not apply.
Collection of Information: Subject to the exclusions and disclosures set out in this Agreement, we aim to collect, use and disclose only such information as is required to enable us to manage your account, to provide the Services, to maintain our customer/visitor lists, to respond to your inquiries or provide feedback, for identification and authentication purposes, for survey and for service improvement. We will maintain the confidentiality of any contact information you provide to us on signing up for our Services or contacting us with questions or for further information and we will use it only for the purposes for which we have collected it, unless you agree that we may disclose it to other third parties.
"Non-Personal Information" is information of an anonymous nature, such as an Internet Protocol Address (IP Address) that has been stripped of personal information, the domain used to access the Website, and the type and version of browser or operating system being used by visitors to the Website. Aggregate, anonymized information, such as demographic statistics of our users (e.g. average age or geographical allocation of our users), number of visitors, what pages users access or visit, and average time spent on the Website is not considered Personal Information. Similarly, business contact information such as the name, title, business address, or telephone number of a business or professional person or an employee of an organization is not considered Personal Information.
Use of Information: We use the information that we collect for the following purposes:
- Social Sharing: If you choose to use any of the social sharing features supported by the Website to share information with your network on another social networking platform (i.e. Tweet this award), such information will be processed according to the privacy practices of the applicable third-party social media provider as well as your privacy settings in respect of your account with such third-party social media provider. If you have approved a social media site to share certain information with us, that information will be collated and stored by us in connection with your personal profile on GrantMe.
- Posts and Comments: If you choose to publish a post or a comment on the Website, your username, profile photo and the content of your post or comment will be made publicly available on the Website.
- Messages: Users have the ability to send messages to each other through the Services. If you send a message to another user, they will be able to see your username, profile photo and the content of your message. If you receive a message from another user, we will send you an email to let you know that you have received a new message.
- Marketing Communications: If you opt-in to receive marketing communications from us, we will keep you up to date on our products and services. You may withdraw your consent to receiving marketing communications (such as unsubscribing from survey notifications and requests) from us at any time by following the opt-out instructions in each communication, or by managing your subscription preferences through your account settings.
- Statistics: We also collect statistics about use of the Services. This information will be kept confidential, however, aggregate anonymized statistics that do not personally identify an individual will be kept by us and such aggregate anonymized statistics may be made available to other members or third parties including advertisers, sponsors and partners. We will also use this information to tailor our content and improve the Website and the Services.
- Predictive Modelling & Data Use: Your profile and other information may be used by us or shared with select partners for the purpose of:
(i) predictive modelling, namely collation and aggregation of data to draw conclusions on or to define shared characteristics. Predictive modelling may include conclusions drawn about behaviour or likely behaviour across ages, gender, geography and other commonalities; and
(ii) obtaining deeper insights into specific user behaviour based on combining data against a third party’s own records
Your IP address is reported by your web browser whenever you visit a page on the Website. This information is recorded together with your registration information on our databases.
By providing your contact information and survey responses, you agree that we may share your information with our partner companies so they may use the same for predictive analytics. We have contractual agreements with our partner companies to ensure that the information they receive from us is handled securely. You will not be marketed to one-to-one by these companies using any contact information provided in a data set from GrantMe unless you have opted in to receive communications from them.
Our servers are located in Canada, and accordingly, your personal information may be available to the Canadian governments and/or its agencies under lawful order, regardless of the safeguards we have put in place for the protection of your Personal Information.
Important Exceptions: We may disclose your Personal Information to third parties without your consent if we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property, other Website members, other users of the Services, or anyone else (including the rights or property of anyone else) that could be harmed by such activities. We may disclose Personal Information when we believe in good faith that such disclosure is required by and in accordance with the law.
Security: The security of your Personal Information is important to us. We use commercially reasonable efforts to store and maintain your Personal Information in a secure environment. We take technical, contractual, administrative, and physical security steps designed to protect Personal Information that you provide to us. We have implemented procedures designed to limit the dissemination of your Personal Information to only such designated staff as are reasonably necessary to carry out the stated purposes we have communicated to you.

You are also responsible for helping to protect the security of your Personal Information. For instance, never give out your email account information or your password for the Services to third parties.
Children’s Privacy: The Website and the Services are intended for use by persons older than 13 years of age. Accordingly, we do not knowingly collect information about persons who are younger than 13. If you think we have collected such information, please contact us and we will remove such information from our systems.
Delete/Deactivate Procedure: Users may unsubscribe to any of our Services at any time or delete or deactivate their account in its entirety by selecting the appropriate action in the Account Settings.
Access and Accuracy: You have the right to access the Personal Information we hold about you in order to verify the Personal Information we have collected in respect to you and to have a general account of our uses of that information. Upon receipt of your written request, we will provide you with a copy of your Personal Information although in certain limited circumstances, we may not be able to make all relevant information available to you such as where that information also pertains to another user. In such circumstances we will provide reasons for the denial to you upon request. We will endeavor to deal with all requests for access and modifications in a timely manner.
We will make every reasonable effort to keep your Personal Information accurate and up-to-date, and we will provide you with mechanisms to update, correct, delete or add to your Personal Information as appropriate. As appropriate, this amended Personal Information will be transmitted to those parties to which we are permitted to disclose your information. Having accurate Personal Information about you enables us to give you the best possible service.
